The 2ESOB students have exchanged postcards with other students from Novosibirsk, Siberia. After reading them in class, we've learnt a lot about the lifestyle, climate, free-time activities and landmarks of the area.
Some students from 1st and 2nd ESO have also contributed with maps and other types of information. Have a look at the mural and learn more about Siberia!
Here you can see the postcards and some of the students who have participated in the exchange: Marc, Antonio, Mar, Raquel, Esteban, Carlos, Luca and Cristian. Good work!
In our high school, we follow the PORTFOLIO philosophy of Language Learning. We want you to be the center of the learning process, to start walking towards self-learning and to assess your own progress in a mature, critical way. We also want you to feel motivated in the process of learning a second language. This is a first step to reach our goals. The blog is our meeting point, our special place to share experiences, ideas, thoughts and activities in English. Enjoy!

AN UNEXPECTED SURPRISE!
Today, our 1 ESO A students have received an unexpected visit. Tiffany, an American student from New Jersey has come to our class. We have shown her our avatars and we have introduced ourselves. Of course, we had plenty of questions for her:
Have you got a boyfriend?
Do you like Spain? And ham?
Is Spain very different from the USA?
Do you watch "la que se avecina"?
We have learnt that Tiffany finds our eating hours very different. She has lunch at 11.30 and dinner at 6 o'clock. She's a Giants' fan and she likes ham and pancakes. She's eaten paella and her favourite TV programme is Scandal.
Thanks so much for your visit, Tiffany! We loved it!

This week we have been practising physical description and our students have created some great avatars. They've also described them. Here we can see some of them. Goog job!
This is our choice of the best Avatars. Congratulations! Keep it up!
Noah, Lucía, Claudia, Jesús, Nuria and Ariadna have done an outstanding job at creating their avatars and the description.

Thanks for your contributions! Some of you received an award, others will have to wait till next year, but I encourage you to keep trying because the level was high and you all have a good chance at winning. Good luck!

HEALTHY FOOD PROJECT
This week we've been carrying out a project about HEALTHY FOOD. Some students have looked for international dishes, others have prepared a healthy lunchbox or a food pyramid, we also have projects about a balanced diet, junk food and even a menu for a healthy canteen.
We can also have a look at the food idioms and the food sayings, and remember: "AN APPLE A DAY, KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY"

THE RED LIST: ANIMALS IN DANGER!
Two of our 1ESOA students, Lucía Fernandez and Iñaki Ferrandis, have written beautiful stories about animals in danger of extinction. They have chosen the polar bear and the elephant. Well done!
And we also have three interesting reports written by students from 1ESOC. Irene Vallés, Dicra Harraki and Ariadna Rodríguez have been studying three endangered animals: the Siberian tiger, the dolphin and the polar bear.
These are the posters our students have done. ANIMALS IN DANGER (1ESOA and 1ESOC, Congratulations! Good work!)
And this is the optional composition of two our 1ESOD students. Good job!

RECIPE EXCHANGE WITH FRANCE
As you know, we have organized a recipe exchange with a French school, the Collège Léonard de Vinci, in Carvin. These are some of the recipes we are sending to France, and in a few weeks, we'll receive those written by our fellow French students. Isn't it great?
By the way, all of your recipes are really interesting. There's Oreo cake, Escudella (from Ariadna's grandmother who lives in Catalonia), paella, cous cous (Dickra's mother's recipe), Christmas meatballs by Andrea García, Easter buns by Javier Álvarez, cupcakes (Iris told us how to bake them), cheese cake, lemon cake, seafood, wafer cake (very popular among students! Iñaki and Mario love it), Spanish omelette, duck with turnip (Juan Carrillo's speciality), Roser García's potato cake, Crispy chicken (Jose Luis cooks it deliciously) and so many others!!! You are outstanding cooks. Congratulations!
EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES
We celebrated the day of EUROPEAN LANGUAGES with a T-shirt exhibition. We had T-shirts with legends in different European languages. Did you like it? Which one is yours?
SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY
The English Department organized a Saint Valentine's Day contest. Here are the cards our students created. Congratulations! The winners will be announced soon. Good luck and thanks for participating.
